Oradour

Jean-Jacques Fouché
FOREIGN SALES: USA, Northern Illinois University Press

The name of Oradour is a reminder for all of us of the shame of « Nazi babarism ». And yet the massacre is still shrouded in mystery and the object of rumours. Why Oradour? What was the history of this « peaceful village »? This is the story – the first history of Oradour – which Jean-Jacques Fouché tells by combining eye-witness accounts with previously unpublished archives.

Jean-Jacques Fouché, philosophy teacher and director of various cultural institutions, became inspector general at the Ministry of Culture before becoming project manager of the Centre for the Remembrance of Oradour.
